NATIONAL KNOCKOUT

National Knockout Northern Regional Final – June 17:

Sessay 115-6 (20; Sophie Richardson 42, Katie Baines 24*, Hannah Jones 2-12)
Didsbury 112 (20; Roshini Prince-Navaratnam 45, Laura Griffiths 31, Amy Burton 3-5, Baines 2-3)

· Didsbury came within an ace of reaching the national Finals Day, but instead their run in this competition ended in the northern regional final, effectively the last eight of the competition nationally. Yorkshire club Sessay were reduced to 8-3 and 29-4 before recovering to post a good total, but Didsbury looked to have this one in the bag when they reached 99-3 in their run chase. Alas it was not to be, but as one of the first two Cheshire League sides to enter this competition, Didsbury have certainly demonstrated how favourably the League’s clubs measure up against some of the best that other leagues have to offer.

CHESHIRE WOMEN’S LEAGUE

Division Two – June 17:

Ashton-on-Mersey 82-6 (40; Azure Wilkinson 24, Poppy Donohue 2-13) (24pts)
Leigh 34 (16; Wilkinson 3-7, Sarah Sutcliffe 3-9, Amanda Gettins 3-15) (3pts)

Ashton’s bowlers were all in good form as they combined to beat Leigh in this low-scoring encounter

Division One / Two Cross Divisional – June 17:

Stockport Georgians+ 79-9 (40; Jane Bellwood 18, Anni Rashid 3-2, Sylvia Christelow 2-11) (6pts)
Appleton* 83-7 (24.3; Rashid 31, Zoe Jones 2-7, Liv Bell 2-13) (25pts)

Appleton moved back to the top of division one, but only after an almighty scare. From 38-5, the Warrington side needed a partnership of 41 from Anni Rashid and Sylvia Christelow – who were also their bowling heroes earlier in the day – to get to the brink of their target.

Division Three East – June 17:

Didsbury 2nd XI 156-4 (25; Abby Petch 26ret, Sophie Davies 25ret, Amna Malik 25ret, Hana Rafiq 25ret) (25pts)
Lymm Oughtrington Park 108-3 (25; Carol Ingham 28) (5pts)
(All Didsbury wickets were Retired Out, so Lymm get no bonus points for these)

A second win for Didsbury, achieved via a powerful batting display.

T20 DIVISIONAL COMPETITION

Western Division – June 11:

Oakmere Kats 53-9 (20; Kate Skelhorn 26*, Nathalie Long 4-10, Olivia Horsfield 2-8)
Appleton Tigers 54-1 (10.4; Emma Barlow 28ret)

With the divisional section of the competition expanded to six matches per team this year, and with only one qualification place still available in each division, there’s a long way to go before any team can claim to be on course for the final. However, Appleton have every reason to be delighted with the way their campaign has gone so far, and after this comprehensive win they are in the enviable position of having already recorded wins over both Chester and Oakmere.

June 15:

Chester Boughton Hall Deemons 84-6 (20; Megan Cureton 24, Hannah Snape 20, Christine Lawson 2-10)
Wistaston Swans 86-4 (16.2; Katie Haszeldine 25ret, Katie Bennett 22)

Chester are the defending champions in this competition, but their hopes of a repeat are hanging by a thread after their second defeat in the Western Division. Wistaston reached their target with all of 22 deliveries remaining to record what is the Crewe-based club’s first win in any competition so far this year.

Oakmere Kats v Wistaston Swans – Oakmere did not fulfil fixture on original date of May 21 and will not be re-arranged – awarded to Wistaston

Eastern Division – June 12:

Stockport Trinity Fire 137-5 (20; Jennie Kitzinger 27ret, Gaby McKeever 27ret, Hattie Roberts 26ret, Carys White 25ret, Azure Wilkinson 2-30)
Ashton-on-Mersey 82-5 (20; Claire Anderton 25ret, Maria Kerrison 25ret, Emma Royle 2-3, Gillian Spragg 2-13)

With four of their top seven reaching the retirement score, Trinity posted a formidable score that put them on the way to their second win in this competition
