The results from the final day of league matches

Division One – September 13:

Appleton (25pts) w/o Astley Bridge (minus 10pts)

Trafford MV 137-6 (40; Vicky Dean 39, Mina Khatun 34, Amanda Gettins 29, Sammi Short 3-13, Maeve Sparks 2-22) (25pts)

Chester Boughton Hall 103 (33.5; Short 31, Gettins 3-18, Dean 2-18, Olivia Teasdale 2-18) (6pts)

As Sunday dawned, it seemed that the loser of this match was highly likely to finish bottom of division one. But before the start of the matches, news came through that Astley Bridge had conceded their final match, and the 10 point penalty was in the end sufficient to relegate them to division two and reprieve Chester. Boughton Hall suffered their fourth straight defeat in completed matches here, despite an excellent debut from Sammi Short. Trafford’s win takes them to a club record third place finish.

Division Two – September 13:

Didsbury 97-8 (40; Hannah Jones 22, Zara Matthews 21, Katie Haszeldine 3-11, Emily Mackenzie 3-14) (8pts)

Wistaston Village 98-7 (26.4; Laura Newton 44, Abbie Adams 27*, Nidda Wariach 5-18) (25pts)

Wistaston won the battle, as they edged this exciting contest and secured the runners-up spot in division two. But it was Didsbury who won the war, with the champagne flowing at the end of the match as they celebrated the division two title they won some weeks ago. A promising innings from Zara Matthews allowed Didsbury to recover from 38-5 to post a score that gave them a fighting chance. When Nidda Wariach took five wickets for only one run, Wistaston were reduced to 32-6 in reply, and it seemed to be a question of whether Laura Newton could shepherd the lower order and see her side over the line. Two overs with 10 runs in each suggested she could, before she perished with the score on 62. But some lusty blows from Abbie Adams allowed her to add 36 in partnership with Christine Lawson and complete the win for the Crewe-based team.

Oxton 44 (27; Rivca Burns 10, Olivia Smith 3-5, Hannah Wicks 3-7, Hattie Roberts 2-1) (1pt)

Stockport Trinity 45-2 (19.5; Carys White 17) (25pts)

The chance of finishing second disappeared with Wistaston’s victory, but here Trinity’s young bowling attack ensured they finished the season in style.

Division Three – September 13:

Leigh (25pts) w/o Northop Hall (minus 10pts)
