First day results

Division One – April 24:

Ashton-on-Mersey 106-7 (40; Vicki Dean 27, Mary Priestner 22, Kerry Hartnett 2-9) (6pts)
Oakmere 107-2 (21.1: Hartnett 52*, Natalie Lyons 32*) (25pts)

• New acquisition Kerry Hartnett – with a wealth of experience of senior county cricket with Hampshire – led the way to a commanding Oakmere win here as she followed up a bowling spell of 2-9 in six overs with a rapid half-century.

Didsbury 125 (35.5; Lauren Smith 94, Sammi Short 3-27, Annette Axon 2-17, Lorna Starkey 2-25) (6pts)
Chester Boughton Hall 129-2 (30.5; Starkey 66) (25pts)

• Another new signing made an eye catching debut here, but this time in a losing cause. Lauren Smith, who plays for Australia’s second team, the Shooting Stars, and is over in the UK to play for Didsbury and Lancashire, made 75 per cent of her team’s total here. An all round performance from new Chester captain Lorna Starkey took her side to victory though.

Division Two – April 24:

Oxton 179-5 (40; Jess Pickavance 68*, Georgia Hepke 38, Laura Wilson 2-17) (25pts)
Hawarden Park 88 (34.3; Hepke 3-6, M Watson 2-8, Ellie Grisedale 2-13) (4pts)

• Oxton’s first win since joining the 40 over divisions was achieved in style, with Jess Pickavance and Georgia Hepke leading the way to a large total, before Hepke’s bowling spell led the way in the field to complete the job.

Stockport Trinity (25pts) w/o Astley Bridge (minus 10pts)

Division One / Two Cross Divisional Matches – April 24:

Wistaston Village 97 (32.3; Alison Smith 32, Nathalie Long 2-17) (5pts)
Appleton 101- 3 (23.4; Emma Barlow 69*) (25pts)

Another new captain enjoying a winning start was Nathalie Long, who has taken over from the League's longest serving captain Emma Barlow. Barlow still played a large part in this successful start to Appleton's title defence.
