CHESHIRE WOMEN’S LEAGUE

Division One – June 19:

Nantwich 303-1 (40; Seren Smale 130, Madi Hudson115*, Grace Michell 27*) (25pts)
Stockport Trinity 138-6 (40; Carys White 52,Freya Jones 37, Charlotte Kirk 3-13, Hannah Bratt 2-24) (5pts) ·

Nantwich secured the services of Thunder first teamer Seren Smale in the days leading up to the match, and she certainly had a debut to remember, as her fine hundred led her new club to the first team score over 300 in the first division in league history. The South Cheshire club passed the previous mark of 293 set by Trinity themselves on the opening day of last season, before passing 300 from the final ball. Smale and her opening partner Madi Hudson were finally parted with the score on 204 in just the 27th over, having scored at more than ten per over for the previous 14 overs. Hudson then took over the mantle of the senior partner perfectly, enjoying another significant partnership with Grace Michell. Trinity, still to win in the league this year, at least salvaged some pride and some batting points, via some cultured batting from Carys White and Freya Jones.

Didsbury 165-8 (40; Rosie Davis 58, Hannah Marshall 43, Charlie Thompson5-23, Ali Cutler 2-14) (25pts)
Chester Boughton Hall 101-9 (40; Daisy Cooke 18, Marshall 5-23, IsabelleHevican 3-10) (7pts) ·

The four teams with only one league defeat to their name met in two matches on this day, and it was Didsbury who arrested their slump, having lost four matches in four different competitions immediately prior to this. Didsbury produced two innings of substance from Rosie Davis and Hannah Marshall, and it was Marshall who then ran through Chester’s top order to ensure that their opponents couldn’t produce a similar innings of note.

Leigh 144-7 (40; Rachael Walsh 60, Ellie Davey 28, Kathryn Jackson 2-12, Emily Page 2-16)(25pts) Appleton 54 (25.2;Holly McCurrie 14, Ella Smith 3-14, Gabby Crabb 2-4, Kasey Bentham 2-13) (5pts) ·

Also winning a top of the table clash were the rejuvenated Leigh side, so after finishing bottom of division one last season, could this be their title year?

Stockport Georgians 185-4 (40; Liv Bell 92*, Louisa Boyle 21, Tess Bailey20, Kate Skelhorn 2-28) (7pts)
Oakmere 186-4 (38; Dawn Prestidge 77) (25pts) ·

Georgians recorded their highest team score since promotion, with Liv Bell remaining unbeaten just short of a three-figure score. Dawn Prestidge led the successful reply.

Division Two – June 19:

Upton 134-4 (35; Charlie Scudder 54*, Sophie Morris 28) (7pts)
Leyland135-4 (30.2; Abby Mort 70*, Katie Boardman 28*) (25pts) ·

Abby Mort and Katie Boardman produced an unbeaten stand of 80 to guide Leyland to what could be an important win in the title race.

Hawarden Park 173-2 (35; Laura Nichols 79*, Rachel Warrenger 51*) (6pts)
Lindow174-2 (17.1; Heidi Cheadle 98*, Claire Ashworth 42*) (25pts) ·

However, if Upton, Leyland or anyone else is to land the division two title this year, they will have to work out a way to stop Lindow, and in particular to curtail Heidi Cheadle’s run scoring. The Wilmslow club’s Australian wicketkeeper-batter was again in imperious form, smashing 98 from 46 balls. Claire Ashworth joined her at the crease to ensure they only needed half the available overs to accomplish what could have been a tricky run chase. It all meant that the unbroken stand of 134 earlier in the day from Laura Nichols and Rachel Warrenger proved to be in vain.

Oxton(25pts) w/o Woodley (minus 10pts)

Division Three West – June 13:

Appleton 2nd XI 95-4 (20; Maddie Lawson 32ret, Emily Page 32 ret, Chloe Grice 2-5) (8pts)
Porthill Park Northern Stars 96-6 (18.5; Luana Sims 21*, Jenny Arnold 2-12) (25pts) ·

Porthill’s recent good form continued here, with Luana Sims guiding them home despite regular wickets from the Appleton attack.

Division Four – June 14:

Heaton Mersey & Cheadle 95-5 (20; Lauren Oliver 35ret, Hannah Budgell 2-15) (8pts)
Stockport Georgians 3rd XI / North East Cheshire 96-6 (19.1; Becky Scholes 14, Lisa Critten 2-12, Libby Bristow 2-23) (25pts) ·

The joint Georgians and North East Cheshire team got home in the final over for a first league win of the year.

June 19: Lymm Oughtrington Park 70-8 (20; Sally Casson 27*, Alexandra Clinton 2-13,Libby Taylor 2-18) (5pts)
Lindow 71-1 (10; Louise Harman 40*) (25pts) ·

A good all round bowling effort, followed by rapid runs from Louise Harman, maintained Lindow’s unbeaten record.

Buxton 77 (20; Kat Martin 13, Ella Travis 13, Jenny Wallace 4-14, EllaHirst 2-14) (5pts)
Langley 78-2 (15.1; Carolyne Jones 32*, J Wallace 20, Sara Allen 2-7) (25pts) ·

Still no mistake so far for Langley either, who won with overs to spare here.

T20 DIVISIONAL COMPETITION

Western Division – June 13:

Oakmere Kats 125-0 (20;Kerry Hartnett 40ret, Sarah Worsdale 40ret)
Nantwich Vipers 79-7 (20;Katie Haszledine 16, Sophie Connor 3-11) ·

This decisively reversed the result from the clubs’ T20 knockout meeting seven days earlier. Both the Oakmere openers scored at around one per ball in reaching the retirement score and Nantwich were unable to produce a significant knock of their own in reply.

Eastern Division – June 15:

Stockport Trinity Fire 93-5(20; Ellie Mason 41ret)
Didsbury Swordettes 70-9 (20;Mason 2-2) ·

In contrast to their league form, Trinity are having an excellent T20 season this year, and this victory represents a giant step towards topping the Eastern Division and reaching the final. Despite the almost routine 40 retired from Ellie Mason, the Stockport side failed to post a three-figure total. However, superb bowling from Mason once again ensured Didsbury finished well short.

Ashton-on-Mersey 87-3 (20;Beth Caunce 32*)
Lindow 88-0 (10.4; Claire Ashworth 40ret) ·

Lindow recorded the first win in this competition, with Claire Ashworth’s unbeaten 40 from 22 deliveries following up a tight collective bowling effort.

June 16: Stockport Georgians w/o Woodley

KNOCKOUT CUPS

SeniorKnockout Quarter Final - June 16:

Appleton Tigers 104-7 (20; Holly McCurrie 35,Zoe Conway 4-13, Isabelle Hevican 2-20)
Didsbury Swordettes 93 (20; Roshini Prince-Navaratnam 43, Abbey Gore 3-14) ·

Appleton are through to a semi-final at Nantwich. The foundations of this win were laid in Holly McCurrie and Jess Lewis’s opening stand of 56, ensuring they posted a good total, despite regular wickets from Zoe Conway in the second half of the innings. There were then three wickets for Abbey Gore and three runout assists for Lewis as the pressure mounted in the reply.

Development Knockout Quarter Final –June 13:

Hayfield 108-4 (20; Olivia Downs-Haskell25ret, Surriya Imran 2-12)
Didsbury 2nd XI 44 (20; Amy Walkman 11, Lily Stafford 3-5) ·

Hayfield are decisively through to the last four, after a match in which all 10 of their outfielders bowled and all returned respectable figures as well.
