CHESHIRE WOMEN’S LEAGUE

Division One / Two Cross Divisional Matches – July 24:

Ashton-on-Mersey 121-4 (40; Mina Khatun 30, Amanda Gettins 26) (8pts)
Stockport Trinity 124-5 (29; Gaby McKeever 50*, Gettins 3-22) (25pts)

• A potentially crucial win for Trinity who moved 27 points clear at the top of division two. Trinity’s bowlers did an excellent job in keeping the run rate down, with Ashton only enjoying the upper hand when Mina Khatun and Amanda Gettins were batting together. Gaby McKeever’s rapid half century led a fairly comfortable run chase.

T20 DIVISIONAL COMPETITION

Western Division – July 19:

Chester Boughton Hall Deemons 89-4 (20; Sammi Short 25ret, Lauren O’Reilly 25ret, Natalie Lyons 2-17)
Oakmere Kats 50-9 (20; Kate Skelhorn 19, Short 4-2, Lorna Starkey 4-20)

• Chester moved into pole position to win the Western Division after another excellent display. Kate Skelhorn and Raffaella Rodighiero scored 75% of the Oakmere runs between them. However, the rest had no answer to the bowling of Lorna Starkey, and particularly Sammi Short, whose return of 4-2 in four overs with two maidens, against a strong batting line up, is surely the T20 performance of the year to date. At the halfway stage of their reply, Oakmere were on 45-4 and exactly halfway to their target. However, Chester’s bowlers only allowed them to score five more runs in the last 10 overs, while taking five more wickets.
