Oakmere record stunning win over champions Chester

Division One – April 23:

Oakmere 206-0 (40; Kerry Hartnett 102*, Helen Smith 90*) (25pts)
Chester Boughton Hall 107-8 (40; Sammi Short 37, Emma Tarpey 4-8, Hartnett 3-20) (3pts)

• After going through the league season unbeaten last year, this was an altogether different experience as they tasted defeat in opening their title defence. Oakmere openers Kerry Hartnett and Helen Smith batted through the entire innings, and Hartnett wasn’t finished there as she bagged three wickets in the second innings to snuff out any hopes of Chester pulling off an unlikely run chase. Emma Tarpey recorded the best bowling figures though as Oakmere, who last won the league title in 2014, laid down a marker on the opening day. For the record, this is the first time Chester – with four titles to their name in the last decade - have failed to take a wicket in the full 40 overs since the league moved to 40 over cricket in 2017.

Didsbury 61 (32.2; Carrie Ellwood 16, Emma Royle 3-9, Gillian Spragg 2-5, Kate Harvey 2-9) (2pts)
Stockport Trinity 64-2 (18; Carys White 25*, Jennie Kitzinger 19*) (25pts)

• Promoted Stockport Trinity had an excellent start to their division one campaign. Didsbury were never able to break the shackles of the Trinity attack and could not post a competitive score.

Division Two – April 23:

Leigh 120-9 (40; Nicky Deane 49, Hannah Bratt 2-16, Morganne Prince 2-17, Alison Smith 2-18) (4pts)
Wistaston Village 121-1 (31.5; Smith 54*, Prince 39*) (25pts)

• Leigh batted the full allocation of overs to post a respectable total in their first match after being promoted to the 40 over divisions, but an all-round show from Alison Smith and Morganne Prince ensured a comfortable win for Wistaston

Oxton 156 (33.2; Alexa Harrison 71, Charlotte Scudder 21, Sinead Murphy 3-28, Carol Ingham 2-21, Emily Hurst 2-21, Amanda Gettins 2-25) (25pts)
Ashton-on-Mersey 128 (35.2; Gettins 68, Lily Scudder 2-7, Rivca Burns 2-10, Ellie Grisedale 2-12, Molly Price 2-29) (9pts)

• Alexa Harrison broke the Oxton club record as the Wirral club got their campaign off to a superb start

Development Knockout Cup Quarter Final – April 23:

Lymm Lightning 52 (19; Kerry Knight 15, Nicole Tunney-Baker 2-12, Beth Garnett 2-14)
Stockport Georgians 55-0 (9.2; Garnett 25ret)

• A decisive win for Georgians puts them through to a semi-final at home to Woodley, provisionally on June 25.
