Division one win the cross-divisional battles

Division One / Two Cross Divisional – June 4:

Oakmere 115 (35.5; Dawn Prestidge 20, Hannah Bratt 5-13, Alison Smith 3-15) (25pts)
Wistaston Village 54 (30.4; Hayley Coutts 2-1, Rachel Tidd 2-2, Prestidge 2-5, Raffaella Rodighiero 2-11) (6pts)

All of today’s cross-divisional matches went the way of the first division sides, in some cases decisively so. Here an all-round Oakmere bowling display ensured they stay top of division one, dismissing Wistaston cheaply and ensuring that Hannah Bratt’s five wicket haul earlier in the day was in vain.

Didsbury 229-5 (40; Hannah Jones 98, Hannah Marshall 47, Zara Matthews 22, Rosie Davies 21) (25pts)
Oxton 97 (29.2; Alexa Harrison 29, Abby Nicholson 5-11) (5pts)

Didsbury decisively beat Oxton to record their first win in 40 over cricket in more than 12 months. Hannah Jones narrowly failed to become the second player to make a first division century this season, before Abby Nicholson ripped through the Oxton top order.

Leigh 138 (36.2; Daisy Mullan 89*, Nathalie Long 4-30, Charlotte Cross 2-24, Sami Fowler 2-24) (5pts)
Appleton 139-1 (30; Laura Jackson 67*, Emma Barlow 62*) 25pts)

Leigh were indebted to Daisy Mullan, who carried her bat through the innings, but once again a fairly respectable total posed little difficulty for the first division side, whose two star batters produced an unbeaten stand of 138.

Ashton-on-Mersey 146-6 (40; Amanda Gettins 50*, Sarah Sutcliffe 46*, Annette Axon 2-7, Sammi Short 2-21) (5pts)
Chester Boughton Hall 147-2 (23.4; Hannah Snape 59*, Lorna Starkey 51, Azure Wilkinson 2-40) (25pts)

Chester are starting to look formidable once again, and they duly recorded their third straight win here. Amanda Gettins and Sarah Sutcliffe, batting at seven and eight, rescued Ashton with an unbroken stand of 106, after none of their top six passed 10, but the final total of 146 was no match for the likes of Hannah Snape and Lorna Starkey, who took their side home with 16 overs in hand. The Chester pair themselves put on 107 in partnership.

Oakmere still lead the way in division one, but Chester, Appleton and Stockport Trinity – the last of which was not in action this weekend – could all close to within six points by winning their games in hand. With all division two sides recording five or six points in defeat, it’s largely as you were in that division, and Wistaston lead by 18 points from Oxton.

Division One is Chester Boughton Hall, Appleton, Didsbury, Oakmere and Stockport Trinity Division Two is Ashton-on-Mersey, Leigh, Wistaston Village and Oxton. Each team will play the others in their division at home and away, plus one fixture against each of the teams in the other division. Teams will play 12 matches in total in division one and 11 in division two. One up one down promotion and relegation will apply between the two divisions.

Division Three – June 4:

Hawarden Park 122-6 (30; Rachel Warrenger 29, Nicole Baker-Tunney 2-23) (6pts)
Stockport Georgians 125-1 (24.1; Beth Garnett 57*, Sharon Skade 20*) (25pts)

Georgians recorded their third win from four, and this was possibly the most impressive yet as they reached their stiff target with only one wicket down, scoring at five per over in the process.
